THE ROLE
The ideal candidate will be trained to undertake various responsibilities, including receiving and sorting linens, inspecting garments for repairs, operating machinery such as dryers and pressers, and organizing clean items for distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consistent attendance is crucial.
- Perform tasks in the designated production area following a set schedule safely and efficiently.
- Support colleagues by assisting with basic tasks, such as providing materials or tools, and maintaining cleanliness in work areas and equipment.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisors or managers.
Qualifications:
- Ability to adhere to assigned shifts - attendance is mandatory.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Physical requirements: lifting up to 25-50 pounds regularly; pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Capability to stand, walk, or sit for 8 to 10 hours daily.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures and noise levels while safely operating machinery.
- Must comply with safety regulations.
Experience:
- Prior experience in an industrial laundry or production setting is preferred.
- Ability to comprehend work instructions in English is preferred.
DEPARTMENTS AND TASKS - Quality output, teamwork, pace, and regular attendance are vital in these roles:
Sorting and counting dirty items: Receive, scan, and inspect bags of soiled linens. Sort items into carts for processing in washing and drying departments.
Dry folding: Inspect clean items and operate folding/bagging machines or fold by hand as needed.
Garment handling: Sort garments, hang them, and process according to specific requirements.
Repairs: Inspect garments and perform repairs using hand tools or sewing machines.
Rug processing: Roll and store rugs using appropriate machinery. Prepare rugs for delivery.
Shipping and Receiving: Count and organize finished products for customer delivery. Load items onto distribution vehicles.
Machine Operation: Operate washing machines, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards.
