Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Personnel Selection Officer to join our team at the Canadian Armed Forces. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing selection standards and processes, leadership development models, and performance appraisal systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement selection standards and processes to ensure the right people are in the right jobs
  • Provide professional advice to military commanders on recruitment, selection, leadership, and performance appraisal
  • Support the growth and career progress of military personnel at all ranks
  • Conduct applied and advanced behavioral research to inform selection processes
  • Teach military leadership, management, and behavioral science courses
  • Train Military Career Counsellors in interviewing techniques, personnel assessments, and counseling techniques
  • Write selection policy, design selection instruments, and develop selection assessment processes
  • Engage in strategic human resource concept design, planning, and coordination
Work Environment

Personnel Selection Officers work in a variety of settings, from office environments to operational tours abroad in support of CAF missions. They may be posted to an Army Base, Air Force Wing, or Navy Formation within Canada.

Requirements

A Master's degree in a social science, such as Psychology or Industrial Relations, is required. Other graduate degrees may be considered based on related experience. Consideration will be given to applications who have an undergraduate degree in Psychology.
