Position Overview

The Senior Quality Assurance Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of our products and processes. This position involves thorough validation of operational outputs, inspection of incoming materials, and final product assemblies, along with meticulous documentation of quality control findings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall quality of all products at OSI Maritime Systems, ensuring that all incoming materials and manufacturing processes meet stringent quality standards.
  • Provide recommendations for corrective actions to address non-conformities, facilitating the achievement of business objectives.
  • Conduct quality inspections of incoming goods, perform functional validations, and verify documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Objectively assess complex factory acceptance tests on behalf of clients, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Execute final quality inspections on outgoing systems and hardware, generating detailed evidence reports as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and document all quality control activities within the appropriate databases.
  • Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and engineering insight, interpreting engineering drawings and product specifications across various product types.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing department to manage supplier defects effectively.
  • Develop and communicate Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) to suppliers, overseeing their resolution and working proactively to minimize quality issues.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, monitoring their effectiveness to enhance both OSI and supplier quality.
  • Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) process, conducting cross-departmental meetings and reporting on MRB status to senior management.
  • Contribute to process development and documentation updates, aiming for increased efficiency.
  • Assess defects and make informed decisions regarding non-conforming materials.
  • Travel to supplier or customer sites as needed to conduct independent quality assessments and analyses.

Qualifications

  • A recognized university degree or technical diploma in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates with direct experience in Quality Assurance or related disciplines.
  • Extensive experience in Quality Engineering or QC inspection, ideally within the Marine, Shipbuilding, or Military sectors.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a quality-focused role.
  • Certification as a QMS auditor to ISO 9001:2015 or similar standards, with a strong understanding of quality management systems.
  • Key competencies include attention to detail, self-motivation, analytical skills, and the ability to interpret complex technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and lead training initiatives for other staff members.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe, SharePoint, JIRA, and PDXpert is required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance.
