Job Title: Technical Design Director

At Tencent Games, we are seeking a highly skilled Technical Design Director to lead the development of our next-generation AAA open-world game. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing game mechanics, systems, and tools that will bring our game to life.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the core team to define a unique and forward-thinking creative vision for the game.
  • Develop scalable content production pipelines and tools that support our creative vision.
  • Empower and support a team of designers to build content efficiently and consistently.
  • Facilitate communication between multiple disciplines to reach common goals.
  • Lead a team of technical designers and foster their professional development.
  • Stimulate innovation across multiple design disciplines.
  • Define performance budgets for each component of the game and optimize data to maximize quality.
  • Represent our studio's core values and create a collaborative and inclusive environment for everyone.
Requirements:
  • At least eight years of professional AAA game development experience.
  • At least two shipped AAA open-world titles, including one during the current generation of video games.
  • Strong technical proficiency with game development tools and technology.
  • Solid understanding of the video game industry and market.
  • Team player with an ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical people.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Passion to innovate, especially in the design and development of open-world games.
  • Experience developing in and extending Unreal Engine 4 a plus.
