Job Summary

The City of Iqaluit is seeking a skilled Utility Systems Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for the operation, repair, and maintenance of our Utilidor system and sewage collection system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the normal operation, maintenance, and repair of the Utilidor system and sewage collection system.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure minimal interruption of water and sewer services.
  • Work in harsh outdoor weather conditions and confined spaces.
  • Participate in training and safety-related courses.
Requirements
  • Grade 10 level of education.
  • 2-3 years of prior plumbing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman plumbing or oil burning certification.
  • Additional training and certifications in a related field.
  • Related experience within a municipal setting.
  • Experience working in piped water/sewage.
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktitut and English.
  • Ability to be scheduled at short notice.
  • Some overtime may be required.
