Utility Systems Technician

Job Summary
The City of Iqaluit is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Utility Systems Technician to join our Public Works team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of our Utilidor system and sewage collection system.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Utilidor system and sewage collection system to ensure efficient operations.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs to minimize interruption of water and sewer services.
- Work in harsh outdoor weather conditions, including confined spaces, and areas with obnoxious odors.
- Participate in training and safety-related courses to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Requirements
- Grade 10 level of education.
- 2-3 years of prior plumbing experience.
- Valid Class 5 Nunavut Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman plumbing or oil burning certification.
- Additional training and certifications in a related field.
- Related experience within a municipal setting.
- Experience working in piped water/sewage systems.
- Ability to communicate in Inuktitut and English.
Working Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with varying weather conditions and may be required to work at short notice. Some overtime may be necessary.
Security Clearance
A Criminal Record check and a clean driver's abstract are required for this position.
