About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Communications Manager to join our team at the Nuclear Waste Management Organization. As a key member of our Communications Department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic corporate communications plans that align with our organization's goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive corporate communications strategies that enhance public awareness, understanding, and advocacy of our organization's mission and goals.
- Lead a team of communications professionals in the planning and execution of communication programs, providing guidance, direction, and support as needed.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including subject matter experts, government relations, creative, and internal communications teams, to develop and implement effective communication strategies.
- Manage and oversee annual research and polling projects, as well as the measurement, monitoring, and evaluation of corporate communications plans.
- Develop and manage the corporate advertising plan and budget, ensuring alignment with corporate campaigns and strategies.
- Provide editorial review of the external social media calendar to ensure strategic coordination with our organization's communication objectives.
- Lead the administration of the Corporate Communications Team's procurement processes, managing and tracking external vendors and contracted work.
- Advance and support a strong corporate culture, providing leadership, direction, regular performance feedback, coaching, and training to employees.
- Represent the organization at external events and develop and deliver briefings and presentations about our work to key audiences.
- Oversee the use of project management systems and tools to support the team in ensuring plans are implemented on time and budget.
- Provide day-to-day interpretation and application of negotiated agreements with bargaining agents, making effective recommendations on human resource issues.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in communications, public relations, or journalism, or equivalent level of education and experience.
- Over 12 years of experience in developing and implementing successful strategic communications plans and campaigns, with experience in fast-paced dynamic environments working on complex projects.
- Expertise in research projects, campaign tracking/measurement, and using insights to inform future work.
- Strong experience navigating and collaborating on communications strategies that involve input from a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Communications experience related to implementing major infrastructure projects requiring significant public engagement.
- Strong financial acumen, process-orientation, ability to develop, manage, and report on detailed budgets.
- Experience with procurement of contracts and vendor management and tracking and reporting.
- Highly refined project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deliver them on time and budget in the context of a multi-stakeholder and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to influence others at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent project management, conflict resolution, and building of high-performance teams.
- Analytical with excellent writing and editing skills and outstanding attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingualism (French/English) would be a strong asset in this role.
