Job Summary

The Infant Toddler/Special Needs Educator and Caregiver is responsible for providing high-quality care and education to children aged 0-3 years. This role involves planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that promote the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of young children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement an age-appropriate program for children aged 0-3 years
  • Guide and assist children in daily activities, ensuring their health and safety at all times
  • Keep accurate records of daily plans and activities, adhering to governing childcare regulations
  • Maintain equipment and assist with housekeeping duties, ensuring a clean and safe environment
  • Update each child's file and be knowledgeable about any medical conditions
  • Interact with children to encourage involvement in activities, providing a warm and caring environment
  • Provide diapering care and toilet learning, as needed
  • Share information regarding child development with parents, maintaining confidentiality
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, including safety requirements
  • Conduct and update developmental profiles on all children, sharing with parents
  • Record and maintain a food logbook, ensuring accurate records
  • Ensure toys are disinfected and rotated, maintaining a clean and safe environment
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Current ECE Infant/Toddler and/or ECE Special Needs license to practice in the Province of British Columbia
  • Knowledge and understanding of standards of practice and regulations in the ECE field
  • Three years' experience working with children aged 0-3
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, high level of energy, and patience
  • Cultural sensitivity, excellent problem-solving skills, and negotiation and mediation skills
  • Ability and willingness to perform physical tasks, high level of trust and confidentiality
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Email
Working Conditions

This role may involve exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions. The successful candidate will interact with children, family members, staff, visitors, and government agencies. Intermittent physical activity, including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting children up to 40 pounds, may be required. Overtime may be necessary.
