English Language Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced English language teacher to join our team at the British Council in Spain. As a teacher, you will play a key role in promoting and ensuring quality teaching and effective learning of English, while supporting the wider aims of the British Council and its cultural relations mission.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups, taking into account individual learning styles.
  • Monitor and assess progress, providing regular feedback to help manage students' performance throughout the course.
  • Complete teaching-related administrative tasks, such as recording class registers and level testing, to specified standards.
  • Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for child protection, equality, diversity, and inclusion, and health and safety.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree (in any discipline)
  • Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL
  • Recognised Diploma in English as a foreign language (e.g. DELTA or Trinity Diploma)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education or Bachelor of Education in primary or a relevant secondary subject (desirable)
  • 1 year post-certificate experience (CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL)
  • Experience in teaching relevant age groups (Early Years, Primary, Lower Secondary, Upper Secondary, University/Vocational students, Adults General English)

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time (15 hours a week)
  • EU nationals or have the right to work in Spain
  • Typical teaching slots: weekday lunchtime, afternoon, and evening classes, and Saturday morning and afternoon classes
  • Days off: Sunday plus another day of the week off

Benefits:

  • Salary: Euro 22,979-33,179 annual gross (pro-rata)
  • Offsite Travel Allowance
