Support Educational Assistant

The Ottawa Catholic School Board is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Support Educational Assistant to join our team. As a Support Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs, including physical, intellectual, and behavioral challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to students with specific needs, including developmental delays, physical challenges, deafness, blindness, or social/emotional and behavioral difficulties.
- Assist students in their academic development, responding to their physical, emotional, and hygienic needs.
- Act as a team member of the school, contributing to the educational program and supporting the assigned student(s) as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal and instructional supervision of the classroom teacher.
- A secondary school diploma.
- A 2-year Community college diploma in a related field (e.g., DSW, CYW, SSW, or a University Degree in a child-related field of study).
- 2 years of relevant experience working with children with a variety of physical, intellectual disabilities, and behavioral or other learning difficulties.
- Knowledge of PICS, PECS, ABA, signing, Braille, and other relevant skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to establish a rapport with children.
- An hourly wage of $31.41, plus 4% in lieu of vacation pay.
