Job Description

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team. As an integral member of our school community, you will play a vital role in supporting students with exceptional needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities
  • Participate in pool programs, academic support, and implement special programs
  • Support students with learning disabilities, speech/language issues, and other special needs
  • Perform outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and/or pool duties as required
Requirements:
  • Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years of related experience with school-aged special needs children
  • Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C
  • Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training
  • High level of fluency in ASL
  • Ability to work in a high-paced ASL language situation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and educational communication software such as Dragon and Kurzweil
  • Experience working with Deaf students and staff
