About the Role

The Ottawa Catholic School Board is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in a classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with intellectual disabilities, physical or medical conditions, deaf/hard of hearing, blind/low vision, self-regulation concerns, and other special education needs.
  • Assist students in their academic development and respond to their physical, emotional, and hygienic needs.
  • Act as a team member of the school, contributing to the educational program and supporting the assigned student(s).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal and instructional supervision of the classroom teacher.
Requirements
  • A secondary school diploma.
  • A 2-year Community college diploma in a related field (e.g., DSW, CYW, SSW, or a University Degree in a child-related field of study).
  • 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of PICS, PECS, ABA, signing, Braille.
  • Special feeding techniques.
  • CPR/First Aid, CPI (NCI), and Diabetic Monitoring.
  • The ability to show initiative.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to establish a rapport with children.
What We Offer
