The Opportunity: Electrical Protection & Control Coordinator

This is a permanent, full-time position based in a dynamic environment.

About Us: Yukon Energy is the primary generator and distributor of electrical energy in the region. Our operations are conducted on the Traditional Territory of Yukon First Nations, where we respect and honor the presence of 14 First Nations in our business practices.

Key Responsibilities: As a vital member of the Electrical Maintenance team, you will provide technical expertise, design input, and project management support throughout all phases of assigned capital and operational projects related to protection and control systems. Additionally, you will perform advanced electrician duties, focusing on the installation of new equipment and the refurbishment of existing assets. All tasks must be executed and documented in compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code and Yukon Energy's established policies and procedures.

Qualifications for Success:

  • A two-year diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Certification as a Journeyman Electrician or Power System Electrician is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • At least three years of experience in testing and maintaining protective relays.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based applications and manufacturer-specific software, maintenance programs, and electrical design tools.
  • Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications for various electrical and electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with high voltage testing equipment.
  • A strong commitment to preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • A collaborative team player who can work independently.
  • Excellent client service skills and interpersonal abilities.
  • A proven commitment to safety practices and fostering a secure work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • A valid class-5 driver's license, First Aid certification, and training in WHMIS, TDG, and rigging and hoisting.
