Compensation Structure

Compensation for Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator roles is determined by the qualifications held by the employee:

  • Individuals without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will receive the undergraduate pay rate.
  • Those with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be compensated at the graduate pay rate.
  • Additional responsibilities assigned to Teaching Assistants will be compensated at the appropriate rate.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant will align with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These duties include:

  • Scheduled interactions with students.
  • Preparation of seminar materials.
  • Student consultations.
  • Grading and assessment tasks.
  • Proctoring examinations.
  • Attending lectures and holding office hours.
  • Other administrative tasks related to the course as required.

Qualifications Required

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the subject area, with a minimum of 85% in MBAB 5P02 and an overall average of 80%.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Experience with Excel is essential.
  • Must exhibit responsibility and efficiency in all tasks.
  • No other Teaching Assistant or grading responsibilities should be assigned to the successful candidate(s).
  • Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant is advantageous but not mandatory.
