Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Medical Information Officer to join our team at BCJobs. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for advancing the utilization of technology-enabled medical and clinical information management to improve quality outcomes for patients across clinical operations and team-based care.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical leadership, with experience in electronic clinical systems and a proven track record of implementing strategies that focus on business goals, individual goals, and team goals. You will be responsible for strategic physician engagement in our information technology initiatives and for the overall development of strategies to maximize physician uptake of technology solutions.

In partnership with our Director of Clinical Information System and key clinical leaders, you will advise on strategies for development, design, implementation, benefits, change management, and adoption of informatics solutions such as electronic medical records, electronic health records, computerized provider order entry, provider order management, electronic documentation, health information exchanges, virtual health, and other communication and information systems used in the clinical settings across the care continuum.

You will ensure that strategies align with organizational objectives, that clinical needs are translated into technology solutions that optimize care quality and patient safety, and that innovation and development of a clinically appropriate information culture is championed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to advance the utilization of technology-enabled medical and clinical information management
  • Lead strategic physician engagement in information technology initiatives
  • Develop strategies to maximize physician uptake of technology solutions
  • Advise on strategies for development, design, implementation, benefits, change management, and adoption of informatics solutions
  • Ensure alignment of strategies with organizational objectives
  • Translate clinical needs into technology solutions that optimize care quality and patient safety
  • Champion innovation and development of a clinically appropriate information culture
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice medicine in BC
  • Eligible for privileges and credentialing with Medical Affairs of Northern Health
  • Clinical leadership experience in the health care sector, including experience with electronic clinical systems
