Job Summary:

The Manitoba Métis Federation is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Child Care Assistant to join our team at the Li Chi Shevru Childcare Centre. As a key member of our childcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to children, while also supporting the delivery of Red River Métis-specific programming and curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Develop and implement engaging and culturally relevant programs that support the unique needs and interests of children.
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and community members to ensure a sense of belonging and connection.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver programs that meet the needs of children and families.
  • Provide individualized support and care to children, including assistance with daily living tasks and emotional support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children's progress and development.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education and Red River Métis-specific programming.

Requirements:

  • Recognized 40-hour course in early childhood education or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year's experience as a Child Care Assistant or relevant role with demonstrated ability to deliver programs and services.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective listening skills.
  • Dependable, reliable, and punctual.
  • Valid 1st Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Circle of Security Certificate an asset.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check, Criminal Record Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, heritage, and language an asset.
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
