Role Summary

We are seeking a Claims Manager - National Large Loss Property to lead our expanding team. In this pivotal role, your extensive claims expertise and dedication to excellence will be crucial in overseeing the daily functions of our National Property Large Loss unit. Your enthusiasm for mentorship and team engagement will enhance connections within the team, motivating everyone to deliver exceptional service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Property Large Loss team, ensuring compliance with team, departmental, corporate, provincial, and regulatory standards.
  • Meet essential business objectives while maintaining high customer service standards.
  • Provide technical guidance focused on indemnity and expense management, ensuring an optimal customer experience.
  • Act as the claims authority in your areas of expertise, guiding policy interpretation, quantum analysis, and reserving decisions. Resolve large or complex claims within your authority or escalate as needed.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance workflows for efficiency, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to address relevant issues.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to formulate strategies and plans for ongoing operations, process enhancements, and customer relations.
  • Monitor financial performance and productivity, providing insights and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, utilizing tools and methodologies that promote critical thinking and innovative problem-solving.
  • Provide effective leadership, overseeing hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development for team members.
  • Lead the training strategy for property large loss claims.
  • Conduct monthly file reviews and audits, identifying opportunities for improvement and developing actionable plans.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of management experience in commercial property claims, with a focus on coaching and mentoring.
  • Extensive experience in managing large and complex property losses across all Canadian jurisdictions.
  • Technical proficiency in coverage analysis, building construction, and quantum evaluation.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong negotiation, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of reinsurance is advantageous.
  • Ability to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and drive positive change.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities aligned with Intact's Leadership Success Factors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse individuals.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required for regular interactions with colleagues across Canada.
  • AMF license is mandatory for Quebec-based candidates.
