Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in an acute care addiction and mental health setting. As a member of the interprofessional healthcare team, the LPN utilizes nursing processes, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to deliver safe and effective care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide competent care to patients with addiction and mental health challenges
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team
  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations to identify patient needs
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare professionals
  • Collaborate with patients and their families to promote health and well-being

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • English language skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent experience on an Acute Care Addiction and Mental Health unit
  • Computer skills using AHS computer applications/programs (Netcare, Medworxx, Outlook, Connect Care)
