As the senior manager of service delivery and technical leadership, you will build, lead, and inspire a cross-functional team to deliver product features and services while developing a team culture of ownership that reinforces the core values of the Royal Bank of Canada. You will digitize critical business processes and maintain existing systems and infrastructure. You will help prioritize work for your team, making difficult tradeoffs on design based on business constraints while ensuring on-time deliverables and high-quality software. You will provide technical guidance and mentor developers to help them reach their potential and ship a world-class product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage business frameworks, including policies, standards, procedures, processes, and metrics, to drive data governance and decision-making.
  • Provide hands-on support and execution of data governance practices on behalf of the business, coordinating work and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of business information assets, including authoritative systems, data domains, data owners, and the enterprise data governance platform.
  • Facilitate and conduct workshops with business partners to identify assets, collect, and curate metadata.
  • Manage a team of senior developers and help develop their careers with stretch responsibilities and excellent feedback.
  • Hands-on experience with creating technical artifacts.
  • Support SAAS vendor projects and POCs on new initiatives.
  • Drive the planning, execution, and delivery of various business initiatives.
  • Implement highly available, scalable, secure architecture as per the Royal Bank of Canada's Enterprise standard.
  • Provide solutions to technical roadblocks.
  • Be actively involved in strategic direction and product decision-making.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects and reporting.
  • You are accountable for your team's successful, timely delivery of high-quality modern web applications.

Requirements

  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data quality practices.
  • Hands-on experience in any one of the data governance tools, preferably Collibra.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in software development and architecture.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them to technical requirements.
  • University degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Senior-level experience designing, developing, and delivering complex technical software solutions (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • Experience leading systems design of service-based architectures and microservices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence the organization effectively.
  • Strong understanding of strategic and business planning processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Scrum and Agile teams.
  • Experience in building end-to-end data CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven hands-on experience in containerization – Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift, etc.
