We are an academic hospital, fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. All clinical staff contribute to the academic agenda through activities like supervising students, teaching, research, and scholarship.
The Position: Psychologist - Specialized Orthopaedic and Developmental Rehabilitation (SODR) TeamWe are seeking a Psychologist to join our dedicated SODR team. This is a temporary position, and applicants with either full-time or part-time availability are encouraged to apply.
The SODR program provides intensive inpatient rehabilitation services to clients requiring complex physical and psychosocial care. Referrals include individuals with musculoskeletal, developmental, and neuromotor conditions, as well as new medical and mental health diagnoses, and sudden life-altering events like major trauma, oncology diagnoses, spinal cord injuries, and burns.
Our psychosocial care focuses on supporting clients and their families in processing new diagnoses and fully engaging in the rehabilitation program. The SODR team works collaboratively to provide client-centered care that is goal-directed, evidence-based, and outcome-oriented.
Responsibilities:- Collaborate with clients/caregivers and the interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive psychological services, including assessment, intervention/psychotherapy, consultation, education, training, and team support.
- Conduct psychological interventions in both group and individual formats, utilizing a variety of approaches tailored to client needs.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessed needs, working closely with the interprofessional team.
- Employ trauma-informed interventions (or willingness to obtain training) to support clients effectively.
- Provide education and training sessions to the interprofessional team, enhancing their understanding of psychological principles and practices.
- Supervise psychology practicum and internship students, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Contribute to program development and evaluation initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery.
- PhD in Psychology required.
- Registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) required, with declared competencies in Clinical Psychology with children and adolescents. Declared competency with families would be an asset, as would be declared competencies in the areas of Rehabilitation Psychology and/or Health Psychology.
- CPBAO Certificate of Registration Authorizing Autonomous Practice as a Psychologist required.
- Knowledge and application of individual and group-based interventions are essential.
- Experience working with pediatric populations is highly desirable.
