Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Your Role Includes:

  • Supervising and assisting in various Geomatics initiatives.
  • Setting up specialized laboratory equipment and demonstrating laboratory techniques, while providing assistance to students during scheduled lab sessions and as needed.
  • Offering support for specialized printing and plotting services, preparing digital datasets for student projects, liaising with industry partners, conducting equipment inventories, promoting programs, and assisting in data management projects. Additional duties may be assigned by the Academic Chair.

Qualifications Required

Educational Background and Experience:

  • A relevant post-secondary qualification, ideally a certificate in a geomatics discipline from a community college or an undergraduate degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of recent, relevant experience in applied geomatics theory, including mapping, terrain analysis, air photo interpretation, graphic design, GIS modeling, statistical analysis, and scripting. Familiarity with various hardware and software tools in a geomatics setting is essential.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and email. Experience with Learning Management Systems like Brightspace is a plus.
  • Experience with GIS databases, particularly PostgreSQL, is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience with GNSS hardware is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to program in languages such as SQL, Python, C#, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is an asset.
