Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

Your Contributions Will Include:

  • Providing oversight and assistance within the Geomatics programs.
  • Facilitating the setup of specialized laboratory equipment and demonstrating laboratory techniques; offering support to students during scheduled lab sessions and as needed.
  • Delivering assistance for specialized printing and plotting services; preparing digital datasets for student projects, collaborating with industry partners, conducting equipment inventories, promoting programs, and aiding in data management initiatives. Additional duties may be assigned by the Academic Chair.

Essential Qualifications

Educational Background and Experience:

  • A minimum of a relevant post-secondary qualification, including a certificate in a geomatics discipline from a community college or an undergraduate degree in geomatics or a related field.
  • At least two years of recent, relevant experience in applied geomatics theory, encompassing mapping, physical geography terrain analysis, aerial photo interpretation, graphic design, GIS modeling, statistical analysis, and scripting. Familiarity with various hardware and software tools in a geomatics setting is essential.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and email. Experience with Learning Management Systems like Brightspace is advantageous.
  • Experience with GIS databases, such as PostgreSQL, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with handheld and other GNSS hardware is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to program in multiple languages (e.g., SQL, Python, C#, HTML, CSS, JS) is an asset.
  • Comfortable working in a digital environment, taking initiative to stay informed about advancing technology, and committed to leveraging technology to enhance work outcomes.
