Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Your Role Involves...

  • Providing oversight and assistance within the Geomatics programs.
  • Setting up specialized laboratory equipment and demonstrating techniques; offering support to students during scheduled lab sessions and as needed.
  • Facilitating specialized printing and plotting services; preparing digital datasets for student projects, collaborating with industry partners, conducting equipment inventories, promoting programs, and assisting in data management initiatives. Additional related tasks may be assigned by the Academic Chair.

Essential Qualifications

Educational Background and Experience:

  • A minimum of a relevant post-secondary qualification, such as a certificate in a geomatics discipline from a community college or an undergraduate degree in geomatics or a related field.
  • At least two years of recent, relevant work experience in applied geomatics theory, including mapping, terrain analysis, aerial photo interpretation, graphic design, GIS modeling, statistical analysis, and scripting. Experience in a geomatics setting using various hardware and software tools is essential.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and email. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, such as Brightspace, is an asset.
  • Experience with GIS databases, particularly PostgreSQL, is considered beneficial.
  • Hands-on experience with GNSS hardware is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to program in various languages (e.g., SQL, Python, C#, HTML, CSS, JS) is a plus.
  • Adeptness in a digital environment, with a commitment to staying updated on advancing technologies and utilizing them effectively in your work.
