About the Role

The Distribution Centre Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development of the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the distribution centre, ensuring the smooth and timely delivery of products to our customers and production lines. This role involves managing a team, optimizing processes, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and managing our suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations Management
    • Oversee all aspects of distribution centre operations, including receiving, picking, production picking, packing, shipping, and returns processing.
    • Oversee and manage the transportation and customs group.
    • Maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of supervisors, warehouse staff, and other personnel.
    • Conduct training, performance evaluations, and staff development programs.
  • Inventory Control
    • Ensure accurate inventory management and control processes.
    • Conduct regular audits, monitor stock levels, and manage discrepancies.
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify areas for operational improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize resource utilization dependant on volume.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety standards and protocols.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Customer Service
    • Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to resolve issues, ensure timely order fulfillment, and maintain high customer satisfaction levels.
  • Budget Management
    • Develop and manage the distribution centre's budget, including monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Prepare and present regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as order accuracy, delivery times, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in distribution, logistics, or warehouse management, with a proven track record of managing teams and optimizing operations.
  • Skills
    • Strong leadership and people management skills.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in warehouse management systems related to SAP and other relevant software.
  • Knowledge
    • In-depth understanding of distribution and logistics processes, inventory management, and supply chain best practices.
  • Communication
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with staff, management, and external partners.
