Payroll and Benefits Management Specialist | Great Connections Employment Services
As an integral part of the Human Resources division, this role is responsible for overseeing payroll and benefits administration for a workforce of 500 employees. The specialist collaborates with payroll service providers to ensure accurate processing, compliance with company policies, and adherence to legal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer bi-weekly payroll for over 550 employees, ensuring timely and accurate compensation.
- Maintain and organize personnel records related to payroll adjustments, terminations, and new hires using an automated payroll system.
- Reconcile payroll accounts to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Identify and communicate discrepancies in payroll data to uphold accuracy before processing.
- Engage with management, employees, and external vendors to facilitate necessary documentation for financial transactions.
- Verify payroll-related information to ensure correct fund distribution.
- Conduct regular maintenance of payroll and employee files.
- Reconcile payroll reports with headcount data, tracking new hires and departures.
- Communicate with various stakeholders to ensure accurate processing of payroll deductions.
- Facilitate meetings, documenting key points and actions to support team initiatives.
- Manage calculations and reporting for various benefits programs, responding to inquiries promptly.
- Oversee headcount reporting and ensure timely completion of all payroll reports.
- Administer employee benefits and serve as a liaison between employees and insurance providers.
- Update and maintain the benefits system for employee changes and new enrollments.
- Act as a resource for the HR team regarding policy development and interpretation.
- Administer the Group RRSP Program and participate in assigned projects.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in payroll and benefits management.
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce and ADP Payroll Systems is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities, with a solid understanding of payroll legislation.
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly Advanced Excel and Access.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive matters.
- Certification in Payroll is an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Extended periods of sitting while working on a computer.
- Compliance with safety protocols as required.
