Job Title: Health Informatics Specialist

At Ontario Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Health Informatics Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our informatics team, you will be responsible for working with our clinical databases and data warehouse to provide critical information and develop reports required for decision support in performance management, research, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compile data from various sources to produce reports and analyze data to support business decisions
  • Support the quality assurance process by completing required quality activities and identifying areas for department improvement
  • Ensure data privacy and security, adhering to OHSA and AODA regulations
  • Determine the data required from client requests, extract and organize data from the data warehouse and other data sources to generate reports using standard processes, tools, and procedures
  • Compile data into usable information for others, formatting report output and providing preliminary analysis; troubleshoot and resolve data extraction problems
  • Presents data findings to requestors at a level they can comprehend, able to speak to the data and address any questions or concerns they may have
  • Assist in managing the data quality assurance process and develops data quality audit reports
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on data quality (accuracy and efficiency)
Requirements:
  • Diploma or degree in health informatics technology, computer science, or related discipline
  • Three (3) years' work experience in health informatics, or a combination of equivalent experience and education
  • Two (2) years' working with SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of relational database concepts
  • Experience working with data warehouses and tools for data mining
  • Experience formally presenting data to a varied audience; experience with health care indicators (e.g., Key Performance Indicators)
  • Experience working with business intelligence tools
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of statistical analysis methods and applications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical information, and clinical outcomes to support accurate analysis and interpretation of data
  • Experience with data privacy and security required
  • Knowledge of biostatistics, statistics, or epidemiology an asset
  • Advanced computer usage skills; Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Tableau suite of tools an asset
  • Experience working with SharePoint an asset
  • Experience with analyzing business requirements an asset
  • Experience with TOAD or other data extraction and management tools
