Job Title: Addiction Nurse

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Addiction Nurse to join our team at the Vancouver Detox Centre. As an Addiction Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to clients struggling with substance use disorders.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to provide screening, assessment, and direct nursing care to clients presenting with substance use disorders. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to achieve excellence in client-centred care and education.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide screening and assessment, direct nursing care, education, and counseling to clients presenting with substance use disorders.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to achieve excellence in client-centred care and education.
Qualifications:
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Valid BC Driver's License may be required for local area travel.
Requirements:
  • Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centred model of care.
  • Broad knowledge of BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice for Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurses.
  • Broad knowledge of chemical dependency and a positive attitude toward chemically dependent clients and their rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
  • Demonstrated case management, teaching/training, clinical support, and consultation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
