Position Overview: Under general supervision, the successful candidate will engage in professional engineering tasks that encompass the design of electrical transmission and distribution systems, as well as enhancements to power production facilities. This role includes new construction, rehabilitation, repairs, major overhauls, and routine maintenance projects.

Work Expectations: Given the Authority's commitment to providing continuous service to the public, employees in this role may be required to work overtime as necessary and could be called in on short notice during power outages or emergencies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and rectifies electrical issues.
  • Evaluates the operation of protective relays triggered by generating unit trip-outs to accurately identify the source of problems.
  • Develops estimates, plans, and specifications for minor enhancements and modifications to facilities.
  • Designs alterations and additions to existing equipment, including the sizing of motors, cables, and associated instruments and controls.
  • Compiles special reports regarding the operation and maintenance of power generation facilities as required.
  • Formulates special procedures and oversees the execution of electrical switching orders.
  • Utilizes computer-aided engineering and design software to create engineering documents.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.
  • Possesses knowledge of mathematical principles necessary for complex electrical calculations.
  • Understands contemporary training and safety protocols.
  • Aware of occupational hazards and safety regulations.
  • Capable of preparing detailed drawings and sketches of generation plants and distribution networks.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, colleagues, and others encountered during work.

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution, along with one (1) to four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of electrical engineering.
