Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Elementary Education Specialist to join our team at the Commission scolaire Central Québec / Central Québec School Board. As an Elementary Education Specialist, you will be responsible for facilitating enriching educational activities for students and actively participating in the animation of school life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development: Develop and provide courses as well as educational and early-learning activities, while tailoring teaching to individual needs.
  • Learning Environment: Encourage an engaging and secure learning environment that fosters academic growth and social development.
  • Assessment and Progress: Monitor and adjust the pedagogical approach based on assessment of student progress, ensuring that students receive targeted support and guidance.
  • Parent Communication: Keep parents regularly informed of their children's progress and challenges, promoting a collaborative approach to education.
  • School Life: Contribute to the animation of school life and extra-curricular activities, promoting a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with school staff to provide personalized support to students, ensuring that their needs are met and their potential is realized.
  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Coordinate extra-curricular activities and work placements to enrich learning and promote student engagement.
  • Mentoring and Support: Provide mentoring and targeted academic support to students, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Student Supervision: Supervise all students under your responsibility, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Communication: Communicate results and student progress to principals and parents in accordance with protocols, promoting transparency and accountability.
  • Pedagogical Meetings: Participate in pedagogical meetings for professional development, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in education.
  • Teaching Permit: Hold or be in the process of obtaining a valid teaching permit issued by the MEQ.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in written and spoken English, as well as a good knowledge of French.
  • Passion for Teaching: Demonstrate a genuine passion for teaching and enthusiasm for educating students, inspiring a love of learning in all students.
  • Adaptability: Adapt to the specific needs of each student, creating effective teaching methods that respect students' different levels of development and acquired skills.
  • Professional Development: Keep abreast of the latest trends in educational programs and pedagogical research, staying current with best practices in education.
  • Flexibility: Be able to modify predefined activity plans and be flexible in lesson planning, responding to the changing needs of students and the school community.
  • Classroom Management: Apply conflict-resolution-oriented classroom management strategies, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Student Motivation: Keep students motivated to achieve their full potential, inspiring them to reach their goals and aspirations.
  • Teamwork: Have a keen interest in participating in initiatives that contribute to the school's development or in team projects, promoting a collaborative and inclusive school culture.
