Job Title: Education Assistant - Special Education

We are seeking a qualified Education Assistant to support our Special Education students in the classroom. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tutoring individual students or small groups
  • Facilitating communication using sign, Braille, etc. if required
  • Preparing and modifying specialized teaching materials
  • Assisting with student mobility and daily living tasks
  • Monitoring and recording student progress
  • Assisting with minor first aid and completing required forms
  • Communicating with students, staff, and others to provide information of a detailed or specialized nature
Requirements:
  • A College Diploma Program that supports Special Education students in the classroom, or equivalent, as recognized by School District No. 51 (Boundary)
  • A minimum of three months of current, demonstrated successful experience/training working with Special Education students
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a variety of school settings, including classrooms, offices, and other areas as required. The position is a casual, on-call role, with hours varying depending on the needs of the school district.

Compensation:

The salary for this position is $29.95 per hour, in accordance with the Collective Agreement presently in effect between the Board and C.U.P.E. Local 2098.
