About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Worker to join our team at The Salvation Army Hamilton Booth Centre. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to individuals in need, while upholding the values and mission of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial assessments of clients seeking admission, ensuring their behavior meets our standards.
  • Complete client intake forms, update records, and register clients as needed.
  • Provide meal tickets, prepared lunches, and other essential services to clients.
  • Conduct security rounds, checking facilities, and reporting incidents.
  • Answer phone calls, provide information, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the front desk area.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, staff, and emergency services as required.
  • Complete incident reports, statistics, and cash reports.
  • Uphold confidentiality and maintain a professional demeanor.
Organizational Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of our policies and procedures.
  • Attend supervision meetings, evaluations, and training sessions.
  • Model professionalism, self-motivation, and punctuality.
  • Commit to confidentiality and adhere to our agency's policies.
  • Represent The Salvation Army in a professional manner.
Working Conditions

This is a permanent full-time position with 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is required, and shifts may vary according to needs.

Applicable shifts include a 1⁄2 hour paid meal break.

May work with potentially aggressive clients.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Post-secondary education preferred, or a combination of education and related life experience.
  • Possess current WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR certificates.
Experience and Knowledge
  • Competent on computer equipment, including Windows, Microsoft Office, and HIFIS.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of community-based resources.
Skills and Capabilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and implement goals and plans.
  • Maturity and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work with socially disadvantaged individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and under supervision.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to forty pounds.
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks.
