Job Summary:

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Worker to join our team at the Hamilton Booth Centre. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for our residents, while promoting their well-being and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial screenings of clients seeking admission, ensuring their behavior meets our policy and procedure standards.
  • Complete client intake forms, update client files, and register clients as needed.
  • Provide meal tickets or prepared lunches, depending on the shift, and complete security rounds of the facility.
  • Record activities and incidents in the log book and incident book, and maintain confidentiality regarding client and staff information.
  • Work closely with the Program Manager to carry out tasks and meet the needs of our residents.

Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of The Salvation Army's Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Meet with the Program Manager for supervision and engage in formal evaluation sessions.
  • Model appropriate qualities for this position, such as self-motivation, punctuality, and personal hygiene.
  • Commit to and sign the agency and client confidentiality form.

Working Conditions:

This is a permanent part-time position with 15 hours per week, requiring flexibility in scheduling. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to the needs of the role.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education preferred, or a combination of education and related life experience.
  • Possess current WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR certificates.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of community-based resources.

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Competent on computer equipment, such as Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to establish and implement goals and plans for self and clients.
  • Maturity and ability to exercise sound judgment.
