As a key member of the Health Sciences Library and Data Stewardship Office, the Data Analyst plays a crucial role in enhancing strategic planning and institutional analysis through comprehensive data analytics and modeling support. This position is essential for providing the University with critical insights and services that facilitate informed decision-making, policy development, and predictive analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis and Modeling: Conduct thorough analysis and validation of data requirements to ensure completeness and adherence to standards.
  • Utilize statistical methods to classify and analyze datasets effectively.
  • Translate user needs into actionable data models that support organizational decision-making.
  • Identify and recommend solutions for complex operational challenges to enhance performance and mitigate risks.
  • Prepare comprehensive briefing notes and reports to advise University leadership on best practices in data governance.
  • Develop user-friendly tools for data extraction and manipulation aligned with business processes.
  • Address integration challenges across various systems and platforms.
  • Create and maintain high-quality data models that minimize redundancy.
  • Continuously optimize data models to support ongoing and new projects.
  • Establish best practices for naming conventions and coding standards.
  • Evaluate existing data models for discrepancies and potential risks.
  • Guide stakeholders on data capabilities and limitations.

Data Strategy:

  • Collaborate with various University units to support data collection initiatives.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of administrative data.
  • Coordinate with partners to facilitate regular reporting and accreditation processes.
  • Ensure internal databases align with external data sources.
  • Assist researchers by providing relevant administrative data for their projects.
  • Contribute to the development of data management policies and procedures.
  • Create visualizations that effectively communicate complex data relationships.

Institutional Analysis and Risk Management:

  • Enhance strategic decision-making by analyzing information and providing actionable insights.
  • Support the identification and management of operational and strategic data risks.
  • Ensure compliance with data policies and regulations.
  • Monitor data risks and prepare reports for key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Business.
  • A Master's Degree in a related field is advantageous.
  • Professional certifications in analytics or data management are a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in data analytics, modeling, and security.
  • Experience with various data analysis software and tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex analyses clearly and effectively.

Language Proficiency:

  • Effective communication skills in English are required.
  • Additional language skills are considered an asset.
