About the Role:
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a part-time, permanent Registered Nurse to join our Medical Withdrawal Service (MWS) team. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will be part of a collaborative and supportive team that provides care to adult clients with severe substance use and/or complex pain disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor client physiological stability, mental status, risks, functional ability, motivation, and client skills.
- Administer medications safely via IV, perform wound care, and prevent further physical destabilization of client health.
- Develop and implement interprofessional plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in reflective practice, provide mentorship and supervision to students, and take on leadership and career development activities.
Requirements:
- Be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates who possess, or are currently pursuing, a BSCN and/or CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
- Prior experience in psychiatric nursing, particularly with individuals with mental illness and/or addictions, is an asset.
- Effective leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Computer literacy is required.
- Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
Working Conditions:
This position requires 12-hour shift work, days and nights, and some weekend work. Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
