Role Overview: As a Financial Accountant within our Assurance & Accounting team, you will be part of a diverse group of professionals committed to exceeding the unique needs of our clients in a rapidly changing business and financial reporting environment. Your role as a trusted advisor will involve providing comprehensive and tailored financial insights that empower clients to make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct various engagements including compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Establish files for new clients and newly formed businesses; manage multiple files concurrently and perform inventory assessments.
- Execute accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset transactions, and payroll processes with clients.
- Summarize clients' financial positions by gathering information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other pertinent reports.
- Evaluate the appropriateness of audit evidence related to expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and prepaid expenses.
- Investigate and rectify discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Draft correspondence, technical reports, client summaries, and presentations that outline engagement findings and highlights.
- Collaborate with the client engagement team and foster relationships with client contacts.
- Maintain flexibility for travel as required.
- Bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration, preferably with a focus on accounting or finance.
- Currently enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- 1 to 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Experience with accounting and tax software is an asset.
