Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain strategic plans for systems management, ensuring comprehensive documentation of preliminary designs for system enhancements and integrations in collaboration with management and business experts.
- Lead user work teams and oversee outsourced system maintenance and enhancement providers, prioritizing the preventative maintenance plan for existing operational systems.
- Define, document, and implement system controls to uphold data integrity.
- Analyze client requirements, extracting and formatting data to produce specialized reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct training needs assessments for user areas and create training materials tailored for adult learners.
- Manage large-scale projects effectively.
- Advise other system administrators on system interfaces and business requirements.
- Ensure user requirements are fulfilled through the design and user acceptance testing of system modifications.
- Prepare input for business cases and conduct post-implementation reviews to confirm that benefits are realized, reporting findings and making recommendations for enhancements.
- Provide user training and support for both planned and existing systems.
- Coach users on the effective and consistent utilization of operational systems.
- Conduct special studies related to operational systems, including research and analysis, and prepare reports with alternatives and recommendations.
- Participate in evaluating internal and external software packages to meet project requirements, providing recommendations on their applicability and viability.
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external auditors and finance regarding operational systems policies and procedures.
- Perform minor duties related to the above responsibilities, including driving a vehicle, which do not affect the job rating.
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary technologist diploma in a relevant computer technology field, or an equivalent combination of recognized certifications.
- A minimum of four (4) years of directly related experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external customers.
- Proficiency in managing multiple large projects simultaneously.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, along with presentation abilities and experience in adult training delivery.
- Advanced knowledge of computer systems operations, environments, and peripherals, as well as applications software utilized at FortisBC, including SAP, SAP Business Warehouse, SAS, and Energy or equivalent.
- A valid British Columbia Driver's license.
- Ability to obtain a Passport for international travel.
