Position Overview:
The McMaster Students Union Child Care Centre offers a nurturing, play-based learning environment that evolves based on children's interests and developmental needs, adhering to the principles outlined in the "How Does Learning Happen?" framework. Our program emphasizes the four Foundations: Belonging, Well Being, Engagement, and Expression. We utilize the HiMama application for effective documentation and parent communication.
As supply staff, you will have the opportunity to work in one of our three classrooms: toddler, intermediate, or preschool.
Prior to commencing work, staff are required to familiarize themselves with our policies and procedures. Additionally, a Vulnerable Sector Police check, First Aid and CPR C certification, along with up-to-date immunization records, are mandatory.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 1-5 years in a relevant field
- Registration: Must be registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Ontario's pedagogy, "How Does Learning Happen?" and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
- Age Group Experience: Proven experience working with diverse age groups (infants, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarten, and children aged 6 to 8 years)
- First Aid Certification: Standard First Aid and CPR "C" certification required
- Background Check: Current Vulnerable Sector Check
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
- Health Assessment: Doctor-certified health assessment and up-to-date immunization, including TB Test
- Food Safety: Food Handler's Certificate is considered an asset
