About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Outreach Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our Mental Health and Addictions team, you will play a vital role in providing clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental and substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a range of clinical services, including screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment.
  • Work in both clinic and community settings, navigating and de-escalating situations, and offering crisis support.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based plans of care, utilizing motivational interviewing skills and engaging with clients/families.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, clients, and family members to create and enrich linkages with organizations and agencies within the community.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Registered or eligible with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW).
  • Minimum of one year (post BSW) clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions.
  • Screening and risk assessment skills, including Suicide Risk Assessment.
  • Working knowledge of the DSM.
  • High degree of independent practice, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to implement an evidenced-based plan of care.
  • Ability to navigate and de-escalate situations and offer crisis support.
  • Group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to use motivational interviewing skills and engage with clients/families.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

  • A competitive hourly rate of $33.30 - $42.06.
