Weapons Engineering Technician

Key Responsibilities:- Monitor and evaluate electronic equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Operate diagnostic systems, specialized tools, and test equipment to identify and repair faults
- Perform diagnostic analysis on components and systems to determine root causes of issues
- Repair and maintain electronic equipment, including radar and communications systems
- Inspect, maintain, and install electronic components to ensure systems are functioning properly
- Compile logs, reports, and maintenance documentation to track system performance and maintenance activities
- Read and interpret electronic drawings to understand system configurations and component layouts
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada
- Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent)
- Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondaire IV in Québec (some jobs require higher levels of education)
As a Weapons Engineering Technician, you will undergo comprehensive training and education to develop the skills and knowledge required for this role. This will include academic training at Naval Fleet School Atlantic in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and application training in Halifax or Esquimalt, British Columbia.
During your training, you will learn about electrical and electronics theory, communications theory and applications, radar theory and applications, sonar theory and applications, shipboard weapons system theory, ammunition handling and safety, and hand tools, electrical meters, and diagnostic equipment.
Specialized Training:As a Weapons Engineering Technician, you may be offered the opportunity to develop specialized skills through formal courses and on-the-job training for topics such as side scan sonar operation, video conferencing terminal maintainer, high-reliability soldering, explosives safety inspection, and fibre optics.
