Job Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Rail Construction Program as a Project Manager for Rail Traffic Management. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and project management skills to oversee the traffic management aspects of the Stage 2 Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the traffic management aspects of the Stage 2 LRT project, including traffic works associated with multiple phases of the project.
  • Review and approve traffic submittals, including traffic control plans and staging design drawings.
  • Monitor, track, and report on traffic works and perform site visits to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with the City's traffic services team and interface with contractors to coordinate proposed traffic closures with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop strategies to advance construction works while minimizing traffic impacts to the public and ensure deficiency resolution within the traffic budget.
Requirements
  • Completion of a 4-year university degree in Civil Engineering or Urban Planning with a transportation focus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience, with at least 3 years of direct experience in traffic-related project management.
  • Strong knowledge of City of Ottawa Official Plan (OP), Transportation Master Plan (TMP), and Provincial Environmental Assessment/Highway Traffic/Municipal Acts.
  • Technical standards including the City Area Traffic Management Guidelines, the Ontario Traffic Manual, the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada, and the Canadian Guide to Neighbourhood Traffic Calming.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
