Job Overview:

Become a vital member of our tax team, engaging in stimulating projects and collaborating with professionals from diverse backgrounds. Our department is composed of specialists in American, Canadian, and international taxation, all reporting to the Vice President of Taxation.

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Canadian tax manager, the Canadian Tax Compliance Specialist will serve as a strategic partner by managing tax compliance for the primary Canadian entity (Public company). The ideal candidate will be results-driven and flexible, thriving in a fast-paced team environment while overseeing the tax compliance responsibilities for the designated company.

  • Prepare or review tax provisions;
  • Compile Canadian tax returns (T2) and associated forms (T106, T1134, NR4, etc.);
  • Draft journal entries for book-to-tax reconciliations, tax payments, and refunds;
  • Exhibit proficiency in balance sheet reconciliations and comprehend relevant accounting standards;
  • Contribute to the consolidated tax provision by analyzing various elements impacting tax expenses and accounts for enhanced visibility;
  • Assist the team during tax audits by preparing essential analyses and summaries;
  • Oversee tax filings to ensure notices of assessment are examined and documented;
  • Stay informed on tax law changes affecting group entities;
  • Conduct research and analysis on various issues, special projects, and uncertain tax positions;
  • Engage in internal technical knowledge sessions focused on accounting and tax topics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting;
  • 3-4 years of experience in corporate tax and/or accounting;
  • Preferred accounting designation;
  • Master's in Taxation or specialized taxation courses considered an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle and HFM is advantageous;
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
