Job Summary

The Personal Support Worker provides personalized support and homemaking services to clients and families within the framework of VON policies, procedures, and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients' and families' needs to determine the required level of support.
  • Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Provide personal care services, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as light housekeeping and meal preparation.
  • Assist clients with daily activities, such as walking, climbing stairs, and getting in and out of bed.
  • Provide respite care and support to clients' families as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to ensure compliance with VON policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CCA Certification (Nova Scotia) or equivalent.
  • Personal Support Worker (PSW) certification or equivalent.
  • Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR level C Certificate.
  • Experience working with elderly or ill individuals or children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
