About the Role

We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Trainee to join our team at BBA Consultants. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on various stages of high-, medium-, and low-voltage project execution, from proposal development to site commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of power systems for major detailed engineering projects, including low- to high-voltage grids.
  • Produce engineering deliverables such as electrical plans and diagrams, and participate in protective relay programming.
  • Draft technical specifications, calculation notes, estimates, and study reports.
  • Coordinate electrical engineering with other disciplines to ensure quality design.
  • Participate in various system studies, including power flow, harmonics, and transients.
  • Participate in protection and arc flash studies.
  • Assist with project management tasks, including schedule and cost monitoring.
  • Perform site surveys and site monitoring during the construction phase.
  • Participate in pre-operational verifications and commissioning of electrical equipment.
  • Participate in modernizing existing power grid protection systems to protect individuals and equipment in case of failure.
  • Propose solutions to mitigate various engineering issues and provide feedback on those proposed by colleagues.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate student in Electrical Engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Ability to read plans and diagrams.
  • Available to stay on site.
  • Asset: student registered with the Institut en génie de l'énergie électrique (IGEE).
  • Asset: bilingual (English and French).
