About the Role:

Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our team. As a Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting our Controller by providing comprehensive financial analysis and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial analysis and support to the Controller, including preparing detailed financial reports and summaries.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate financial statements, ledgers, and accounts, including performing detailed reviews and making corrections.
  • Support the closing process for monthly and yearly financial periods by analyzing and reconciling general ledgers.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for the annual audit and serve as the initial point of contact for external auditors.
  • Provide oversight to Junior Accountants for bank reconciliations and other finance-related administrative tasks.
  • Prepare and analyze regular and ad hoc financial reports to support management decision-making.
  • Provide guidance to department leads on how to interpret job cost reports and financial results.
  • Maintain and update records for fixed assets inventory, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, and amortization.
  • Calculate HST owing and prepare HST returns in compliance with payment and reporting requirements.
  • Provide technical support to ERP users as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance role.
  • Experience in the construction industry or similar sectors with a strong understanding of job cost accounting preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
  • Familiarity with HST regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and data entry.
