At Farm Credit Canada, we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you'll provide expert legal advice on various matters of law pertaining to our activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice on corporate authority, compliance requirements, and rights and obligations under contracts
  • Interpret statutes, internal documentation, and policies
  • Retain and supervise the services of external legal counsel
  • Help develop and document internal policy and procedures regarding corporate loan products, programs, and initiatives
Requirements:
  • J.D. or L.L.B. and at least five to ten years of commercial finance or banking experience
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law as a barrister and solicitor in any Canadian province
What We're Looking For:

We're seeking a creative and critical thinker who can advise on a variety of complex issues and provide advanced solutions. You'll be a proactive lawyer with risk mitigation experience in a commercially-oriented, dynamic environment. A collaborative relationship-builder who values the input of others, both inside and outside the legal team, is essential. You'll also be an influencer with demonstrated negotiation skills able to deal with conflicting and complex areas.

We're looking for a multi-tasker able to manage high volumes of tasks and transactions effectively and efficiently. Sound judgment and solid decision-making abilities are also crucial.
