Job Summary
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) - Saskatoon Integrated Service Area is seeking a full-time Clinical Biochemist to join the Division of Clinical Biochemistry in the Laboratory Medicine program. This full-time position is based in Saskatoon, supporting all clinical sites in Saskatoon Integrated Areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide quality oversight and ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Select and validate equipment and methods to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop and implement pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes to improve laboratory efficiency.
- Ensure appropriate test utilization and result interpretation, and provide clinical consultation and liaison with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals.
- Participate in on-call services and contribute to the development of laboratory policies and procedures.
Academic Responsibilities
- Teach in the General Pathology Residency, Clinical Biochemistry fellowship training program, and other Medical Education programs.
- Conduct collaborative and independent research, and contribute to the development of new laboratory techniques and technologies.
Requirements
- Ph.D. degree with formal training in Clinical Chemistry.
- Certification (or eligibility for certification) in Clinical Chemistry by the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry and/or the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC).
