Job Summary

Baycrest Health Sciences is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team in providing high-quality client-centred care. As a collaborative care provider, you will work closely with Registered Nurses (RNs) to deliver comprehensive health care services to clients in long-term care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborative Care: Work in collaboration with RNs to provide sound clinical knowledge and skills, act as a clinical expert and resource, and provide comprehensive, quality client/family-centred health care services from admission, through transfers and discharge.
  • Nursing Interventions and Medications: Plan for, deliver, and evaluate nursing interventions, including medications, as well as treatments which fall within the RPN's scope of practice.
  • Client Assessments: Perform client assessments to identify individualized care needs.
  • Client-Centred Care: Provide client-centred care within an interdisciplinary care team to meet the personal care, activation, recreation, and spiritual needs of clients.
Qualifications
  • Registration and Certification: Current registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario ('CNO') is required.
  • Basic Life Support: Current Basic Cardiac Life Support ('BCLS') certificate, Level C - Automated External Device ('AED') is required.
  • Experience and Training: Experience in Long-Term Care, clients in day programs or residents in a Long-Term Care and Community Setting preferred. Certificate in Dementia Care preferred. Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach and U-First preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills – including MDS/RAI, Point Click Care, Microsoft Word, and Excel preferred.
