About the Role

Piedmont Sheet Metal (1997) Ltd. is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Fabrication Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for assisting skilled tradespersons in the fabrication of sheet metal products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport construction materials to and from the fabrication area.
  • Site Preparation: Level earth to fine grade specifications, ensuring a safe and stable working environment.
  • Debris Removal: Remove rubble and other debris from construction sites, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Traffic Direction: Direct traffic at or near construction sites, ensuring the safety of workers and the general public.
  • Labouring and Elemental Activities: Perform various labouring and elemental activities, including operating metalworking machines and assisting skilled tradespersons.
  • Metal Fabrication: Assist in the fabrication of sheet metal products, including cutting, punching, drilling, shaping, and straightening.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate metalworking machines, including welding and soldering equipment, shears, punch presses, drill presses, and brakes.
  • Hoisting and Rigging: Assemble, erect, and install hoisting and rigging equipment, ensuring safe and efficient lifting operations.
  • Sheet Metal Installation: Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes, ensuring high-quality finishes and precise tolerances.
Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
  • Language: English language proficiency required.
  • Work Hours: 40 hours per week, with a permanent work term.
