Position OverviewUnder the general supervision of the Charge or designate, the Clinical Laboratory Technologist is tasked with performing clinical analyses and reporting on patient specimens in accordance with established protocols. The role also involves contributing to various laboratory projects such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), chemical inventories, and more. The incumbent is expected to uphold a safe working environment in compliance with professional and provincial standards, ensuring adherence to quality assurance programs and maintaining the standards set forth by Accreditation. All functions are carried out in alignment with the Mission and Values of Shared Health Diagnostic Services, as well as current policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
Experience- Prior relevant experience is preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program.
- Successful completion of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process for a discipline specialty, as deemed by the Employer may also be considered.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) is required.
- Current membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) is considered an asset.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral, are essential.
- Proficiency in a Windows computer environment is required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs is preferred.
- Mental and physical health necessary to meet the demands of the role is required.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions precisely with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong analytical skills are essential.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Maintains confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.
- Fluency in both written and oral French may be required.
- Ability to perform the duties as described.
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required.
- Participation in standby and callback duty may be necessary.
- Flexibility to rotate through various workstations as needed.
- Exposure to all hazards and dangers associated with laboratory work.
