Position Overview: The Bilingual Human Resources Consultant plays a pivotal role in delivering a comprehensive suite of HR services, primarily centered around managing the full recruitment lifecycle while also offering advisory support on various employee-related issues. This position acts as a vital liaison for both management and staff, ensuring that HR policies and practices are in harmony with the strategic objectives and values of Brandt.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the approval process for hiring by ensuring that requests for new hires, transfers, or promotions are reviewed and sanctioned by management and senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to assess staffing requirements, create job descriptions, and develop recruitment advertisements.
  • Revise and enhance job descriptions and specifications as necessary.
  • Coordinate with marketing to design and disseminate recruitment advertisements.
  • Post job openings and maintain Brandt's presence on recruitment platforms and other media outlets.
  • Engage with external recruiting agencies and international recruiters to fulfill staffing needs.
  • Assist branches in organizing and participating in recruitment events.
  • Oversee the applicant screening process, including resume evaluations, suitability assessments, and preliminary interviews.
  • Maintain communication regarding the status of interview processes.
  • Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve staffing objectives.
  • Facilitate and participate in interviews as required.
  • Draft offer letters for new hires and ensure they are routed for necessary approvals.
  • Work alongside hiring managers to extend employment offers.
  • Coordinate with Payroll to ensure accurate setup of new, transferred, and promoted employees in Brandt's systems.
  • Support the processes related to new hires, employment changes, and terminations by managing documentation.
  • Stay informed about the organizational structure, personnel policies, and employment legislation.
  • Advise departmental managers on policy interpretation, program administration, and best practices, including matters related to discipline, harassment, and discrimination.
  • Provide guidance on complex HR issues and mitigate organizational risks.
  • Respond to inquiries from managers and supervisors regarding employment matters and legislative interpretation.
  • Offer daily advice on compensation and assist with the annual compensation review process.
  • Manage the exit interview process, including conducting interviews and tracking outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with labor standards, human rights, and health & safety regulations.
  • Stay updated on HR best practices, legislative changes, and industry standards.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with employees and management.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics such as turnover and retention rates.
  • Possess knowledge of the collective bargaining process and manage related documentation.
  • Conduct research for pre-negotiation and manage labor market comparison data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • A university degree focused on Human Resources or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with managers and employees.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • CPHR designation is considered an asset.
